Hymn of True Entrusting Heart Buddhist Sutra

* This calligraphy by Mr. Ouchida is a very beautiful work written in kaisho style using gold ink on a purple paper background. The source material is the Shoshinge (正信偈) Buddhist sutra. It is called the “Hymn of True Entrusting Heart” and was originally written by the Buddhist teacher Shinran Shonin. It is written in verses of seven characters that were designed to be chanted in Jodo Shinshu services. The artwork has a total of 1260 characters in the verses. The original Buddhist text was written by Shinran Shonin to encapsulate the teachings of Jodo Shinshu (True Pure Land Buddhism).
